Prestbury

Prestbury branch covers the village of Prestbury and the local surrounding areas.

About 4000 people live in and around the village, of which some are currently members. We are currently inviting more residents to join us and to get involved. We hope that they will take the opportunity to engage in debate about the issues of the day.

These include the impact of the new East Cheshire local authority, and many urgent national issues including the level of UK debt, taxation, pensions, education, energy and transport – all of which affect us here directly. We anticipate an increase in political interest in these and other local issues in the approach to the next General Election, which is less than a year away.

We organise a series of social events through the year, with a Spring bridge drive, a Summer garden party, and a Winter dinner. We also take part in other events run by the Macclesfield Conservative Association.

The Prestbury Branch Committee is elected at an AGM at the beginning of the year. The Committtee hold open meetings about four times each year.

The Parish Council is currently active in the community led ‘Plan4Prestbury’ project, which has made a series of recommendations based on the views of residents of the village. The Parish Council is processing these proposals and ideas, and we are keeping close to them throughout this process.
